Just before the final whistle, Newcastle struck again through a sweeping move that ended with a clinical finish, sealing a 4-1 scoreline that more accurately reflected their dominance over the 90 minutes.

The result sees Newcastle safely into the next round and gives Howe a timely reminder of the depth in his squad, with fringe players stepping up when called upon. For Bradford, the defeat ends their Carabao Cup run but they depart with credit, having competed bravely and even caused a few nervy moments for the hosts. Their focus will now return to maintaining their excellent League One form as they chase promotion.
