Inter Milan left it late but secured a dramatic 2–1 comeback victory over Urawa Red Diamonds in their second group stage match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The Japanese side stunned the Italians early, with Ryōma Watanabe opening the scoring in the 11th minute after finishing off a fast, clinical counterattack.
Despite dominating possession and registering over 20 shots, Inter struggled to break through Urawa’s disciplined defensive shape. Frustration grew until the 78th minute, when Lautaro Martínez leveled the match with a spectacular overhead kick from close range, giving Inter renewed momentum.
With the game heading toward a draw, it was youngster Valentin Carboni who sealed the result in stoppage time. After a scramble in the box, Carboni latched onto a loose ball and fired home the winner in the 92nd minute, sparking celebration on the Inter bench.
The 2–1 result keeps Inter Milan alive in Group E after their opening draw against Monterrey. For Urawa, it was a gutsy performance that came within minutes of a historic result, but they walk away empty-handed after a heartbreaking finish.
