Seattle Sounder vs PSG

On June 23, 2025, at Lumen Field in Seattle, the Seattle Sounders faced European powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain in their final Group B match of the FIFA Club World Cup. This match was part of the newly expanded 32-team tournament hosted in the United States. PSG gradually took control with their superior possession and quality. In the 35th minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring with a curling shot from the edge of the box that deflected past goalkeeper Stefan Frei. Seattle held firm for a while, but PSG’s dominance was evident—controlling 72% of possession and dictating the tempo.

In the 66th minute, PSG doubled their lead. Bradley Barcola launched a quick counterattack and fed Achraf Hakimi on the right flank. The Moroccan defender took one touch and buried a low shot into the far corner to make it 2–0. PSG continued to push, but Seattle’s defense—particularly Nouhou and Jonathan Bell—worked hard to limit the damage.

By full-time, PSG had seven shots on target to Seattle’s zero. The match ended 2–0 in favor of the Parisians, who sealed their spot in the knockout stage. Seattle, meanwhile, finished bottom of the group with zero points but earned credit for their competitiveness against world-class opposition in what was considered the tournament’s “group of death.”

This result capped a challenging yet meaningful tournament experience for the Sounders, while PSG advanced with confidence into the Round of 16, reasserting themselves as one of the favorites to lift the trophy.
